Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists perform individualized evaluations to determine areas of concerns, during which the client, family, and occupational therapist determine appropriate goals to progress towards. Once the evaluation has been performed and areas of focus have been determined, an individualized treatment plan will be formulated with approval from a primary physician. The client is then ready to begin occupational therapy treatment sessions.

Occupational Therapy has a holistic perspective, in which the focus is on adapting the environment to fit the client, with the client being an integral part of the therapy team.

Areas of focus may include, but not limited to the following:

  • Fine motor skills
  • Gross motor skills
  • Balance/Coordination skills
  • Oral motor and feeding skills
  • Visual skills
  • Adaptive skills
  • Activities of Daily Living
  • Neuro-musular diseases or disorders
  • Adaptive equipment training
  • Developmental delays
  • Connective tissue disorders (e.g.: Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis – JRA or Rheumatoid Arthritis – RA)
  • Social skills
